Advanced Resuscitation

The Advanced Resuscitation course is designed for first aiders who are required to use resuscitation equipment.


Length of Qualification This certificate is valid for 12 Months (1 Year)
Prerequisite Full Course A current CPR certificate
Objectives For the participants to be competent at resuscitation using mechanical resuscitation equipment.
Expected Outcomes Successful participants will be able to, in real situations, render life saving first aid using manual or mechanical means to sustain or stabilise sick or inured casualties.
Who Should Attend Holders of CPR (Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation) certificates who need to obtain a qualification in the use of advanced resuscitation equipment.
Accreditation Successful participants receive a Statement of Attainment for the following units of competency:

  • Introduction to advanced resuscitation
  • Prevention of infection when giving first aid
  • DRABCD and Resuscitation (review)
  • Definition of terms in AED
  • Safety when using an AED
  • Preparation of a casualty when using an AED
  • Use of Soft Bag Resuscitator
  • Administration of oxygen
  • Introduction to oxygen delivery systems
  • Using oxygen in resuscitation
  • Maintenance of oxygen & AED equipment
