First Aid For Divers

The course is designed to meet special first aid requirements of commercial and recreational divers.

Length of Qualification	The certificate is valid for 3 years but requires annual update of the Advanced Resuscitation component.
Prerequisite	*Full Course*	Nil
Objectives	For the participants to gain the skills and knowledge to deal with the injured or ill diver.
Expected Outcomes	Successful participants will be able to, in real situations, render life saving and basic first aid to the diving casualty.

Accreditation	Successful participants receive a Statement of Attainment for the following units of Competency: HLTFA301B – Apply First Aid HLTFA402B – Apply Advanced First Aid HLTFA404A – Apply Advanced Resuscitation Techniques
Content	DRABCD action plan Respiratory system and chest injuries Circulatory system and heart conditions Applying CPR Conditions affecting consciousness Bleeding, shock, fractures, burns Marine bites and stings Poisons Eye injuries Barotrauma Advanced Resuscitation Anoxia, hypoxia Decompression illness Contaminated breathing air Nitrogen narcosis Hypothermia Near drowning Oxygen toxicity Lifting and moving a diving casualty
